Lab 7: HTML (I)

Part 1

First Read pages 90 - 107 (it is imperative that you read these pages before attempting the next part)

1. Then go to the following Web site:

http://wps.aw.com/wps/media/objects/893/915029/files/SecondPage.html

While on this site, click on "view", and then "source". You will find the html source for this site (compare with pages 98 and 107). Pretty Cool!

2. Alright next step: you will find that the source code opens up in Notepad. Save the notepad in 2 formats:

a) lastname.txt (this should be your last name e.g. mollah.txt)

b) lastname.html (this should be your last name e.g. mollah.html)

Close both

3. Open lastname.html. What do you see? Exciting! This page is nearly the same as in the book - except the picture does not show up. What to do?

4. Go back to the actual Web site, right click on the picture of the pipe. Then look under "properties". Copy the URL of the pipe image.

5. Open lastname.txt Then paste the URL from (4) in the appropriate place (you should know once you have read pages 90-107). Save this page. Do not close.

6. While on lastname.txt, click on "save as" again and save the page as lastname.html (this should replace the previous one)

7. Open lastname.html and voila, you should be able to see a replica of the actual Web site!

Part 2

Read pages 107 - 115

Answer the Multiple Choice Questions and the Short Answer questions at the back.
